Believe it or not when you were a baby cradled in your mother’s arms you were a Yogi.
Remember sucking your toes? No of course you don’t, but you did. You were once as supple as a bendy toy.
As time goes on we age, injure ourselves, feel heavy with the burdens put upon us. No matter who we are we all have our stress levels. Some cope more than others. Meanwhile, our bodies begin to stiffen with the strain of modern life. Yoga is about stretching your spine and body. Imagine your body being more flexible; it’s worth the effort.
You simply stretch your body as far as comfortable, with no straining. Each time you will stretch a little bit further. Yoga is classed as an aerobic exercise as it improves oxygenization of the blood; you should always feel energized after practising. No matter what your age it works; you go at your own pace.
Our minds tend to wander, daydream, worry about the future, and reflect the past. Focusing on your breath helps you stay connected to the here and now. And momentarily think of nothing.
Any Yoga is better than no Yoga. 20 minutes a day is better than 1 hour per week.
In general Yoga promotes health, calm and relaxation.
